Are these songs gonna be the new 'what i do', 'sealion' etc. ??

Are they still going to be considered for the new album or was this session a way of getting them in a nice sounding version, and now they have been retired from the race for a spot on the next record?!

all this talk about what i do

........................

makes me happy

.......

gives me hope that beautiful songs like what i do, winter's love, laughed for a world, etc. will be revisited

or at least reconsidered

laughed for a world! there's a song I want to see get out there. never gets talked about. that panda itunes ep thing wasn't enough. that song kills live.

(and I will continue to repeat this till I'm blue in the face: happy singing band)

Id say this session was definitely a way of getting From a Beach down to see what it would be like recorded or what a new song would be like recorded. To us it has been the weakest of our new songs, which is why we stopped playing it live but that had more to do with the sounds and how they interacted on stage then it did with the nature of the song itself. It was just too hard for us to play. We thought in the studio it would be easier for us to get it in good place without having to worry about the "on the spot nature" of playing it live. That doesnt mean it will or will not end up on the album we just thought it would be a nice addition to the session since we like people to hear new things from us and its more fun than recording something we've been playing forever. I guess the same goes for On a Highway which is really more like a rough sketch since that is the first take and first time we ever played it together but we were all psyched on it. Everything happens for a reason. The new EP has songs on it that in retrospect could have been on SJ since that is when they were recorded but they just werent ready then. I guess it makes sense though since they all seem to fit really well on the EP. Cant really say what is going to happen when we record at this point.

As always, Dave, thank you for being so informative. I think From A Beach sounded awesome. On A Highway is really cool, too. I listened to it yesterday while driving on a highway and it was sweet. I really can't wait for that EP!!!

I agree. I'd have to say that From a Beach is far from my least favourite of the new songs! The version at the coronet seemed not complete, but this latest version is beautifully chaotic! I'm sure lots of fans agree with me.

Dear Dave,

The Street Flash EP has me feelin' like a werewolf with anticipation! '08 can't get here fast enough. Mr. Green

P.S. From A Beach, Bearhug, Tasty Place, Bro Sport, House and No more runnin' are really the most incredible of your new tunes. The latter really made my night at the 9:30 Club dude, just soul shakingly cathartic....

Thanks Happy Holidaze (Holiday fun!) and Peace Exclamation
